THE VILLAGE

Porreres

Porreres is a quiet and hospitable town and very well connected to Palma and the airport (38.5 km, 35 minutes), Manacor (19.3 km, 23 minutes), Campos (12.4 km, 16 minutes) or Felanitx ( 14.6 km, 20 minutes) but it is also a few kilometers from the best beaches and coves in Mallorca, for example, Es Trenc (24.7 km, 32 minutes). It retains its old charm, away from mass tourism.

We recommend visiting the local market on Tuesdays, this will undoubtedly enhance your experience of the best the island has to offer. It has a great selection of fruits, vegetables, wine and honey. Porreres is known for its cultivation of apricots, almonds and cereals. There are several high quality vineyards. Its wineries are Bodega Can Feliu, Bodegas Mesquida Mora, Bodega Son Artigues and Bodega Blanca Terra.

There are 36 windmills that take us back to the agricultural roots of the town. About two kilometers from the town is the Monti-sion Sanctuary, a monastery built in 1551 and which functioned as an ecclesiastical school from the 15th to the 19th century. On the way to reach it we find the Calvary stations erected in 1497. Once in the monastery, with its 250 m altitude, we have spectacular views.
